Steve’s career began as a waiter while he was in his teens and, as a result of following poor advice, found himself unemployed and owing over $35,000 in debt – on the verge of bankruptcy. Through a series of decisions, finding quality mentors, and realizing that all outcomes in life are result of decisions we make internally, Steve quickly developed a plan for his life. He jumpstarted his career and within months started his own company and also began working for county government in California. Two years later he was not only leading technology efforts on behalf of the California State Department of Education, but had also had a thriving consulting firm to help the private sector.
Steve is known for creating new and innovative solutions for individuals and organizations utilizing the latest in both computer technology and human technology. Over the next 5 years, he quickly climbed the corporate ladder and led teams of hundreds of people for organizations such as Charles Schwab, Montgomery Securities, NationsBank, concluding his corporate life as Vice President and Principal with Bank of America Securities in 2000. He had won numerous awards in the industry for innovation and leadership.
He was always one of the youngest officers for each of the companies he served. While his strategies had provided him with the material wealth he could only dream of years before while working as a waiter, he quickly realized the difference between being successful and truly being fulfilled. Steve’s entrepreneurial nature enticed him to leave Bank of America and found Electronic Investing Corporation, allowing individuals to buy securities in dollar amounts instead of share amounts – a concept deemed impossible for over 85 years.
Steve and his team realized that the only limiting factor was a limiting psychology. In 2000, using the same psychology that used to transform his life years earlier, they developed a solution and sold it to E*TRADE Financial for over $14 million in just seven months. Through the merger of his company with E*TRADE, Steve was responsible for E*TRADE’s mutual funds, Private Accounts, 529 Education Plans, Dollar-denominated Stock Baskets, and stock IPO’s. Having the primary question in his mind of “How can I use my current situation to best serve?”, Steve was quickly promoted to the position of Chief Information Officer at E*Trade. In late 2001, after 9/11, Steve realized his true calling was to serve on an even higher scale. He left E*TRADE in late 2001 to devote his energy full time to Synergetic Results International – the organization he founded and currently serves as a Principal.
While working in Wall Street for years, Steve was responsible for technology. He found that most of the challenges were not technical in nature, but were “softer” – human psychology. He focused on developing his leadership skills. While attending college with California State University and Golden Gate University, majoring in information systems and organizational leadership, Steve was researching the most successful and influential leaders of the day including Warren Buffet, Jack Welch, Peter Drucker, Tony Robbins, and others. He realized that “success leaves clues” – more specifically, success leaves strategies. He came to a decision point in his senior year of college where he realized that what he was being taught in school was not applicable in the fast-paced business world where he was excelling. Steve realized that his “schooling was interfering with his education” and pursued his own independent study full-time. He not only scoured university bookstores reading every MBA book he could find, but explored human psychology and neurological studies as a means to understand “why we do what we do”. His “leadership through empowerment” approach as an officer of on Wall Street afforded him much time to coach dozens of companies in all stages of their corporate lifecycle. Through every executive or organizational “turn around”, he learned more ingredients of both failure and success. He took these “learnings” and used his human psychology experience and training to look for “core strategies.” These core strategies led to what he now calls “NeuroStrategies” – strategies of the human mind.
Since 2001, Steve has been coaching executives, professional athletes, celebrities, military leaders, parents, coaching organizations around the world in these very technologies. He also enjoyed serving as an International Performance Trainer and Crew Director with Anthony Robbins for over ten years. Having learn and using NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) since he was a teenager, Steve has been training and certifying individuals in NLP and NeuroStrategies since 2003. He is considered to have the highest standards world-wide for certification in these technologies because of his ability to draw from real-world experience of having used the very technologies he teaches. More importantly, his students are regarded as “best-in-class” and are highly sought after by the corporate world, government, professional sports, medical, and military for advising services.
Today, Steve sits on the board of advisors for numerous companies and still advises leaders in the world of human development on new strategies he is developing. His primary focus is helping both individuals and organizations not just survive the current, global economic conditions, but how to draw from time-tested strategies to serve vast numbers of people on larger scales. In 2008, he was invited to speak at the National Achiever’s Congress in both Malaysia and Singapore to over 10,000 people on the subject of integrating NeuroStrategies into their lives, families, and organizations. His vision continues to expand; working with individuals and organizations to address the needs of financial and career advancement.
